Shalu

At a very young age, Shalu is working as an HOD in a Residential School. We met her on the campus, while we were doing a pilot project for assessment of the school students. In the very first interaction, we could feel her wisdom and managing abilities. Out of curiosity and intention to test the credibility of our assessment she opted for assessment of her own. When our counsellor finally sat down to interact with her based-on findings in report, it was revealed to her that she has been brilliant in academics. At this she mentioned that she was a Gold Medallist in PG.

Challenge

It’s a usual practise in our Indian Education System, that based on the grades and academic performance, the top cream is offered Medical and Non-Medical, the average rankers are encouraged towards Commerce and those who are struggling with their academic performance are pushed into Arts/Humanities.

Being a class topper, Shalu was also brain washed by her parents and society to opt for Science – Non-Medical. She successfully completed her Graduation in Electrical Engineering and Post-Graduation in Mechanical Engineering in which she was a Gold Medallist. She admitted that despite so much effort and sincerity, she has not reached to her potential.

Solution

The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away - Shakespeare

As per result of her assessment, this feeling was quite expected because the assessment revealed that Shalu was an academic achiever, a versatile, multi-talented individual, yet the combination of her strengths made her outstanding in Psychology or Literature.

Shalu confessed that since the time she joined the school, in which she progressed from a teacher to Head of the Department in a very short span, she finds so much zeal to progress more in her current profile.

Results

At the age of 28, Shalu’s zeal to progress is not over. Looking at her revelations in the assessment, she wonders that if she would have opted for Psychology or Literature, she would have been the youngest principal to any of the prestigious school. She is considering the option to pursue a second Master’s degree in Literature which shall be followed by PHd. to give exponential boost to her career.
